Background
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) —a critical element of the historic Paris Agreement— is the world’s largest climate fund mandated to support low-emission, climate-resilient development pathways. As an operating entity of the financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), GCF contributes to the goal of keeping an average global temperature rise well below two degrees Celsius.
The Fund seeks to engage the Business Intelligence (BI) Consultant to join its team at headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea, for a period of 12 months.
Role
The consultant will support the Database Specialist in transforming, connecting, and maintaining data for business intelligence and carrying out associated tasks. The Fund is mobilizing data as a strategic resource, using a phased approach, with implementation and scaling to continue during the next year across the organization. The consultant will coordinate and support the deployment, and the maintenance of software, pipelines, and processes based on the Fund’s requirements for data collaboration, categorization, insights, and associated metrics supporting the Fund’s operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the overall guidance of the Database Specialist, the BI Consultant will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Maintain and evolve data pipelines based upon analysis of end-user requirements and needs across relevant internal divisions, offices, and units.
- Provide clean and comprehensible data to end users.
- Model, transform, extract, and integrate operational and project data.
- Support the use of data for business intelligence and decision making.
- Implement, maintain, and integrate data pipelines to pull information from ERP systems (Oracle Fusion) and other sources using Orbit Data Pipelines, Microsoft Fabric, and related tools.
- Participate in the development of business intelligence internal documents, plans, visualizations, and reports.
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and semantic models, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and governance.
- Implement data governance practices, including shared workspace management and dashboard lifecycle processes.
- Optimize data models and relationships for performance and scalability.
- Coordinate UAT, access provisioning, and stakeholder onboarding for BI solutions.
- Develop and maintain guidelines and best practices for Power BI design and usage.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master’s level degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Analytics, Computer Science, or related fields. In the absence of a Master’s degree, an additional two (2) years of relevant work experience is required.
- At least five (5) years of relevant work experience with business intelligence, data analytics, report and customer experienced software is preferred.
- Proficiency with BI and data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI and Fabric.
- Experience with the broader Microsoft ecosystem and data tools such as Power Platform, SharePoint, and Purview is desirable.
- Experience with data integration tools and ERP systems, including familiarity with Orbit Data Pipelines for Oracle Fusion or similar commercial data integration products.
- Proven experience in Power BI governance, semantic modeling, workspace administration, and advanced DAX/SQL development.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks and committee-based decision-making.
- Good understanding and experience of operations of international organizations is an added advantage.
- Excellent writing and communication skills in English; knowledge of another UN language an advantage.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment with diverse stakeholders, and to work independently and take the initiative in response to Fund’s needs.
