Background

The Green Climate Fund (GCF)—a critical element of the historic Paris Agreement—is the world’s largest climate fund mandated to support low-emission, climate-resilient development pathways. As an operating entity of the financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), GCF contributes to the goal of keeping an average global temperature rise well below two degrees Celsius.

The Fund seeks to engage the Cloud Platform Engineer Consultant to join its team at its headquarters in Songdo, Republic of Korea, for a period of 12 months.

 

Role

As the Fund undergoes a transformational shift toward modern cloud infrastructure, the Cloud Platform Engineer will play a critical role in migrating existing cloud systems and implementing next-generation cloud-native architectures. This position requires expertise in managing complex cloud migration projects while ensuring business continuity, enhancing security postures, and optimizing performance throughout the modernization process. 

 

Duties and responsibilities

1. Cloud & On-Premises Infrastructure Support

  • Implement, configure, and maintain Azure and on-premises infrastructure to ensure system availability, scalability, and security.
  • Assist in deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates (ARM, Bicep, Terraform) for standardized deployments.
  • Develop and maintain CICD pipelines for GCF home-grown applications

2. Identity & Access Management

  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID, Azure AD, and Microsoft 365 identity services.
  • Apply established Zero Trust and MDM policies, ensuring compliance and secure device access.

3. Application & Service Administration

  • Provide configuration, troubleshooting, testing, and operational support for Microsoft 365 ecosystem, MS Defender, Intune, HCM, and other assigned cloud-based services.
  • Assist with system migrations and application integration projects.
  • Design, implement, and maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Mobile Application Management (MAM) solutions to ensure secure device enrollment, policy enforcement, and application lifecycle management across enterprise mobile environments.

4. Monitoring & Security Operations

  • Monitor system performance, logs, and security alerts, escalating issues as needed.
  • Support incident response by gathering data, applying standard fixes, and documenting actions.

5. Automation & Scripting

  • Develop and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Python, etc.) to automate recurring operational tasks under supervision.

6. Project & Task Execution

  • Deliver assigned project components within set timelines, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Prepare documentation for deployments, configurations, and procedures.

7. User & Stakeholder Support

  • Provide Tier-2 technical support to internal users and project teams, both onsite and remotely.
  • Communicate effectively with ICT colleagues to resolve issues and support ongoing projects. 

 

Required experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, and/or similar domain of education.
  • At least 3 years of relevant IT infrastructure experience indicated, including up-to-date knowledge of and experience in on-premises and Cloud Systems
  • In-depth technical knowledge of cloud solutions in an enterprise IT environment. e.g. Microsoft Office 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive), Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Virtual Desktop, and other relevant cloud services.
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining scripts to automate system deployment, operations and management in any language is an advantage (Terraform, PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Knowledge of API management and integration platforms in cloud environments
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in cloud environments
  • Proficiency in version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows
  • Thorough and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Entra Identity Services, Active Directory, Compliance and Azure Security
  • Strong understanding of on-prem & cloud infrastructure and security best practices
  • Prior experience with a Cloud infrastructure service provider, or an extensive “Private Cloud” environment
  • Work experience in an international environment, i.e. foreign affiliated companies, international organizations, etc. is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position, knowledge of another UN language an advantage.
