Role
The Editorial and Report Writing Consultant will support the high quality editorial and proofreading services for documents developed by the Secretariat relating to meetings of the Board, the development of the Board meeting reports, as well as other documents of the Secretariat. Assistance with other editorial and report writing tasks may also be required.
Duties and responsibilities
Report writing

- Support the preparation of the initial and final drafts of Board meeting reports, incorporating comments received as necessary;
- Ensure clarity of content, cohesion, structure, consistency of format, and conformity of the report with other meeting reports and official documents prepared by the Fund, in accordance with approved document guidelines;
- Review the contents of draft Board meeting reports in line with the task above, particularly on complex items or other matters identified as priority;
- Liaise on the development and finalization of drafts of the meeting reports with the report writers and other GCF staff as needed;
- Provide second edits of the Board meeting reports;
- Consult with the Office of Governance Affairs to clarify ambiguities, develop solutions, and rectify substantive errors;
- Provide advice to the Office of Governance Affairs and other GCF staff on matters relating to documentation and Board report writing, as requested;
- Draft other (minor) notes or input to Board documents that may be required at Board meetings
Editorial support

- Provide editorial and proofreading support in advance of and following meetings of the Board, in collaboration with the Office of Governance Affairs;
- Receive requests for editing from drafters and focal points in the Secretariat;
- Review requests and the accompanying documents to determine the editing resources and time needed to fulfil the request;
- Allocate editing tasks to editorial consultants;
- Inform requesters of the status of their requests and likely turnaround times;
- Keep track of requests using established tools and software;
- Receive edited documents from editors, and perform quality control/second edits as required;
- Return edited documents to requesters;
- Respond to queries from requesters and editors on house style, terminology, and related matters;
- Edit, proofread and revise Board documents, including those of high complexity and of specialized and/or technical nature (particularly in the fields of climate finance, climate change, international governance, resource mobilization, private sector instruments, accreditation, administration, budgets/finance, etc.), as needed;
- Ensure Board documents express ideas clearly, are of a consistently high standard and adhere to GCF editorial style;
- Consult with Secretariat staff to clarify ambiguities and rectify substantive errors;
- Carrying out any other duties as may be required by the Secretary to the Board.
Required experience and qualifications

- University degree in linguistics or literature (English), international relations, political science, environmental studies or a related field;
- At least seven (7) years of relevant experience, with a Master's degree, or nine (9) years with a Bachelor’s degree, in the preparation and revision of complex documents, of which two years should have been for an international organization;
- Previous relevant work experience with intergovernmental processes and the work of the United Nations or another international organization;
- Sound written, editorial and analytical abilities coupled with excellent organizational and planning skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential for this position.
